Antiparos at a glance

Location: The island of Antiparos is located southwest of Paros , one nautical mile from it. In other words, these two islands almost touch each other.

Identity card:  Tiny and oblong in shape, Antiparos is 12.5 km long and 5.5 km wide. It has a population of 600 inhabitants, an area of 35 km² and a coastal perimeter of 54 km. Kastro, the only village on the island, is both the capital and the main port and owes its name to its Venetian fortress.

Characteristics: It is an almost flat island, although with some slight hills in the center and west, and a highest point of 300 meters.
The landscapes there are still quite wild and varied. So on the east coast facing Paros , they are flat with pretty sandy beaches, while on the west, the island has steep cliffs where superb coves nestle. Antiparos is surrounded by small islets, some of which are accessible on foot, whose sole inhabitants are wild hares and pigeons and serve as grazing land for the island’s farmers. Indeed, unlike other Cyclades islands , Antiparos still has an agricultural vocation. Thus the vineyards alternate with olive trees and fig trees. In the North and West, cereals are cultivated. Numerous herds of goats.

Strong points: Away from mass tourism, despite the recent visit of Lionel Jospin and the presence of some beautiful residences often decorated with fake mills built by the Athenians, Antiparos is a friendly island where you take the time to live . Its inhabitants are welcoming and have kept the tradition of Greek hospitality. Its small size will delight hikers who can travel from one end to the other, taking one or other of the many trails traced along the cliffs or in the hinterland.
Coves with crystal clear waters, fine sandy beaches, relaxing landscapes, for relaxing and informal holidays.
