To the south of the island, twelve km from the main port, Faros , well sheltered from the winds, is a delightful fishing port built in an amphitheater around three superb coves of fine sand (Glyfo, Apokofto, Fassolou), separated from each other by small rocky promontories. It is an ideal site to fully enjoy the joys of summer. A path leads to the monastery of Panagia Chryssopigi (1650), patroness of the island and where a pilgrimage takes place every year on Ascension Eve.
