Amorgos - Potamos-Langada-Tholaria

Potamos , surrounded by laurels, erected like a balcony above the sea, enjoys a very beautiful view of the sea. The village is divided into two districts: Kato Potamos and its imposing church and Pano Potamos which is totally different from apart from the atmosphere that reigns there and in which we feel immersed in another world, in its narrow streets and dazzling whiteness. We have the impression that the inhabitants live in another era.

Langada , built along a gorge and dominated, in its lower part, by a rocky spur which separates the village into two parts, is delightful with its houses, its stepped streets and its arched passages. For hiking lovers, a beautiful but difficult path leads to Mount Chorafakia , at an altitude of 820 m, the highest point of Amorgos .

Tholaria is an agricultural village, built at an altitude of 182 m above the sea, near Vigla , the ancient acropolis of Aegiali . It is famous for its numerous ” cafeneios ” and taverns where island music is played. It is dominated by an imposing church compared to the size of the village and the houses.

The particularities of these villages are their arched passages, the flowers drawn with broad strokes of whitewash on the slabs paving the streets and their traditional architecture. Numerous hiking trails departing from these three villages .
